Stem Cell Therapy
comes to Veterinary Medicine!

Desert Inn Animal Hospital is excited to offer a new option in treatment using stem cell therapy. Stem cells are found in abundant numbers in simple fat tissue, which can easily be taken from under the animal’s skin. The processed stem cells can then be injected into the affected site.

Founded in 2002, Vet-Stem is a San Diego-based company. It is at their laboratory where your animal's own stem cells are extracted from fat samples, then returned in the form of injections to your veterinarian, that are ready for use in treatment. Vet-Stem will also store any unused cells for future treatments if needed.

Dr. Sam K. Lynch has been trained to perform this procedure for your pet. Please give us a call so that we may schedule an appointment to evaluate your pet and discuss this exciting new treatment option. The timing for this type of treatment is:

Day One:
Dr. Lynch will collect a small fat sample (about two tablespoons) from your pet. This sample is shipped priority overnight to the Vet-Stem laboratory in San Diego, California. Vet-Stem provides a quick-turnaround laboratory service that enables veterinarians to utilize Vet-Stem Regenerative Cells (VSRCs) in animals. We accomplish this within 48 hours after collection of a fat sample.

Day Two:
Vet-Stem processes the fat sample, concentrates the VSRCs. The cells are shipped priority overnight in ready-to-inject syringes back to Dr. Lynch.

Day Three:
You would then bring your pet back into see Dr. Lynch. Your pet would receive VSRC injections directly into the injured site.

Banking
Vet-Stem Bank™ is a service that provides storage of VSRCs for future use. After the collection and processing described in the process above, part or all of the cells may be banked if cell yield allows. This service is a specially designed tissue preservation process that prepares your animal's stem cells for long-term storage in liquid nitrogen. These cells may be used for additional treatments of an existing injury, or they may be stored as "insurance" for a possible need in the future. Cryogenically frozen stem cells have been shown viable after 20 years of storage.

All cells may only be used for the donor animal and are not differentiated or engineered in any way.
