Is a proper diet for pets important? It’s easier to avoid health problems than it is to solve them. This golden rule applies to proper nutrition in animals. That is why we strongly recommend a high-quality diet. The benefits of a proper diet apply to all stages of the life cycle from young to old.
My pet looks healthy, so why vaccinate and screen for disease? Dogs and cats are susceptible to many serious illnesses if left unprotected or undetected. Just as in people, vaccinations (“booster shots”) are the primary reason many contagious diseases are not as widespread as they were in the past. For the sake of your pet’s good health, we strongly recommend routine immunizations.
My older pet looks healthy, so why schedule a check-up? A professional geriatric examination may uncover some problems in its earliest stages when they will be easiest to treat. Small problems can quickly become big ones in older pets. Keeping your pet happy and active is a matter of regular medical check-ups, home care, proper exercise and nutrition designed especially for your pet’s health golden years.

Is dental care important? Most owners don’t realize that dental disease in dogs and cats is one of the most common problems veterinarians have to treat. Regular care and cleaning is the best way to prevent dental-related health problems.
Is spaying/neutering a good idea? In a word…yes! Spaying/neutering should be considered if breeding is not desired because of serious overpopulation of dogs and cats. Also, sterilized pets are less prone to many medical diseases commonly seen in older animals. Additionally, pets “fixed” at a young age (generally between 6 to 9 months) are less likely to develop undesirable behavioral traits when they mature.

What’s the benefit of keeping the skin and coat in god condition? Grooming is often overlooked as being important to your pet’s health. Pets benefit from regular brushing because it removes loose hair, prevents matting, reduces hairball formation and keeps the skin and coat in good shape. Occasionally, dogs and cats can get certain skin problems. In these cases, prompt treatment can keep these conditions from getting worse. Common opportunists include parasites like fleas, mites, and ticks. The quicker we screen, diagnose and treat these conditions, the better chance you have of keeping your pet’s skin and coat in top shape.
